A subject directory is a comprehensive and categorical list of Web Wide Web documents, organized
hierarchically by subject matter.
Imagine the structure of a hierarchy tree, beginning on the bottom with a broad subject or main heading
(the trunk, as in the image to the right), then organized further into subdivisions of the broad subject
(the branches).
