Find Your Book

  • As with any search, note the location, status and call number of your item. If your item is available and located in the "LAC Bookshelves" then look at the bottom of the screen to see the floor where your call number is found (LAC Library has 5 levels of book stacks with the main floor being stack level 3)

  • You might want to view the Library of Congress Classification Outline below this chart to obtain an understanding of what subjects the call number letters represent

TO FIND YOUR BOOK ON THE SHELF AT LAC:

Books with the location "LAC Book Shelves" and with the status "Available" can be found on one of the 5 stack levels in the Liberal Arts Campus Library. Look at the letter(s) at the beginning of the call number (Library of Congress Classification Number) of your book and match to the following chart to find the stack level:

Q through Z shelved on Stack Level 5 (2nd Floor--top level)

P through PZ shelved on Stack Level 4 (Mezzanine)

HM through N shelved on Stack Level 3 (1st Floor--entry level)

E through HJ shelved on Stack Level 2 (Basement)

A through D shelved on Stack Level 1 (Sub-basement)
