Library Update #44 (September 30th, 2007)
The library subscribes to more than 3 dozen databases bringing the latest and most authoritative information to LBCC students, faculty, and staff. They include ProQuest (over 1800 full-text academic journals, magazines, and newspapers), Health & Wellness Resource Center, Literature Resource Center, Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center, Art Museum Image Gallery, Encyclopedia Britannica , and many others. You will find a complete list at http://lib.lbcc.edu/databases.html
These web-based tools can be used at any time from any web-enabled computer. Until now, though, one had to know and enter a unique user id and password for each database. These passwords were on a printed handout available at the library upon presentation of proof of current LBCC registration or employment.
The good news is that from now on validated users can log in without having to remember passwords or search for a handout. The library is introducing EZProxy, software that enables access to all the databases by entering a single easy-to-remember user id and password:
Students enter their campus ID number and their last name
-
Faculty and staff enter their network ID and password; those who don't yet have one can contact ACIT for instructions and assistance
To test drive the new login system point your browser to the library home page http://lib.lbcc.edu/ click on “articles and databases” on the left side of the screen, then “off-campus access” on the right side of screen, and follow the directions to log in.
