Library Orientations: A Strategy for Better Student Papers and Projects

college catalogs

  • Good things happen when LBCC faculty bring their classes to the library to meet with a librarian. Students discover how to make the best use of the library's information resources, both its physical collection and its "virtual" one : the extensive array of electronic databases that the library subscribes to, and that can be accessed "anytime/anywhere."

For fall, 2005 scheduling is designed to reach more students by being more convenient for instructional faculty. Here are the guidelines:

  • Schedule requested dates two or more weeks in advance
  • Librarians are available to meet with classes at LAC:
    • between 7:15 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday
    • between 7:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday
    • between 10:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday
  • At PCC Library (x3028) librarians are available to meet with classes
  • between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday
  • between 8:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Friday
  • between 10:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Saturday
  • At LAC, classes normally will meet in L 208 (Open Access Lab, 2nd floor); PCC Library classes are held in the Library, GG207
  • Requests for an orientation may be made by phone (x 4853 for LAC, x 3028 for PCC) or using the online form available at the library home page ( http://lib.lbcc.edu/) click on "Services for Faculty.
