LBCC students,
staff, and faculty may not all realize it, but through the years
their familiar LAC and PCC libraries have morphed into something
different-- and better. Today you have three options when you look
to the library to help identify, retrieve and deliver the information
you're looking for:
- Our Physical
Library
The first thing that may come to mind when the library is mentioned
is probably is the L or GG building and its excellent collections
of books, periodicals, microforms, videos, and cd's, carefully
chosen to meet the needs of the LBCC curriculum
- Our Extended
Library
Thanks to our partnership with CSU Long Beach Library your LBCC
college id will let you check out books from that million-volume
collection and use its facilities, which are open until midnight
most nights, Sundays, and have even longer hours before final
exam time. We'll also borrow books and journal articles for you
from libraries near and far through our Interlibrary Loan service.
- Our Virtual
Library
Though our buildings contain a wide range of print material, the
scope and breadth of those collections is enormously enriched
by the access the library provides its campus constituents to
web-based information resources. For example, the library has
subscriptions to 146 current print journals; but it offers full
text access to more than 2000 additional titles through its subscription
to the ProQuest research library, and they are available anytime,
anyplace from any web-based computer. The virtual library contains
over 8000 e-books, as well as reference materials, newspapers,
government documents, and statistical information, all delivered
to your desktop.
