Final exams
are just around the corner, December 9 through 17, and LBCC's libraries
have the information resources, facilities, and services to help
students go into this trying period feeling well prepared and confident.
Library study rooms
provide the perfect atmosphere for concentration and study, and
they're available from early morning into the evening on weekdays,
as well as six hours on Saturdays at LAC, four at PCC Library
- Group study rooms
offer a place where several students can confer, quiz one another,
compare notes, or prepare for a group presentation
- Reference librarians
can suggest print and online sources to help put the finishing
touches on term projects and research papers
- Thanks to the rich
array of e-books and e-journals included in the library collection,
students can find the information they need anytime and anywhere
from a web-enabled computer
- LBCC Libraries have
partnered with CSULB Library, and LBCC ID cards are valid for
borrowing there. CSULB Library has an extended schedule during
finals, open most nights until 2 a.m. including Sundays
Of course, one must remember
that while the library and its faculty and staff are always here
to help, we can't work miracles for those who may need, for example,
to write a ten page paper overnight. Librarians are glad to schedule
uninterrupted time with students to discuss ways of completing complex
assignments, but these arrangements have to be planned in advance.
So make the LAC or PCC library your venue during the pre-finals
countdown, and go into exam week unruffled and ready.
