Spotlight on Library Media
LBCC students and faculty know that we live in a predominantly visual culture, in which images are assuming increasing significance. Real-time delivery of a wide range of news, cultural, and entertainment content no longer amazes or surprises us; it is taken for granted. Reflecting this evolution, the library's increasing focus on non-print media is intended to support the needs of library users who thrive and revel in a learning process that embodies visual components and integrates them with problem-solving tasks and assignments. Whether it be a visual reenactment of Shakespeare's plays or a video presentation of the body of Toni Morrison's works, or a demonstration of the right techniques for welding and suturing, students derive immense benefit from a collection that strives to accommodate visually-driven learning styles.
