Q. What do I need to check out library materials?
Your current student identification card is also your library card. Make sure you have a current semester student-services sticker affixed to the back of the card to show current proof of enrollment. If you do not have or forget your student identification card, we also accept your printout of classes plus your driver's license or California identification card.
Q. Who can check out library materials?
Current Long Beach City College and California State University Long Beach students, faculty, and staff can check out library materials. Non-students and community members can check out items which are currently in print by depositing for the amount of the item in cash plus a $10, all refundable, deposit for each item checked out. Another option is to obtain a referral from any Long Beach Public Library. There is a limit of two (2) items per non-Long Beach City College borrower. You need to show a set of identification cards, your public library card and a photograph identification to check out.

Q. Do you have current textbooks for check out?
Current textbooks are housed in our Reserve Collection. These books, used in classes, are left with the Library by the instructors for their students. If a current textbook you need is not in our Reserve Collection, please talk to your instructor about placing a copy on reserve.
Q. Can my library card be used anywhere else?
You can use your card to check out materials at the Liberal Arts Ccampus Library, Pacific Coast Campus Library, and California State University Long Beach Library. Long Beach City College Library has a reciprocal agreement with the California State University Long Beach Library that allows borrowers to check out books and media. Reserve items, bound periodicals, remote access to electronic resources, and the library computer labs are not available to reciprocal Long Beach City College borrowers. Interlibrary Loan, borrowing items outside of our library system, is available to Long Beach City College students, faculty and staff for items not in our collection. Please refer to our Interlibrary Loan link.
Q. Where can I return library materials?
Books, pamphlets, and periodicals checked out at the Liberal Arts Campus or Pacific Coast Campus Libraries can be returned at either library. Music CDs, CD-ROMs, videos, college catalogs, and reserve items are returned to the Library where they were initially checked out. Items checked out at California State University Long Beach connected to the reciprocal-borrowing privilege must be returned at that institution.
Q. How can I renew library materials?
Only books and pamphlets are renewable. You can renew items in three ways: online, by phone, and in person. To renew online, access the Library online catalog at http://voyager.lbcc.edu, select "My Record" from the top menu, and follow the instructions.
