Library Systems are managed by Library faculty and Lead Library Technician Ruben Amador. They keep the computer systems in the Library up and running, and continue to add new programs and features to assist you in your work at Long Beach City College.
Library Systems include the integrated online system, Voyager, Library Web pages, Library computer Research Centers, and the programs, hardware, and software operating in the Library Department.
The Voyager system that the Library uses for internal operations and for the Library's online catalog is also used by the Library of Congress and many other universities, colleges, public libraries and private institutions. This software is produced by Endeavor Information Systems.
Whenever the Library is open, the two Research Center computer labs are available for Internet research on the 1st floor of the Liberal Arts Campus Library. There are student lab assistants available to get you started and to assist with problems that may arise. Librarians are also available to help you with your research needs. There are also computers available for Internet research at the Pacific Coast Campus Library, with a librarian available to assist you in starting your research.
Computers have become an integral part of library research today, and there are many online tools to help you with your research and writing. From our Library website, accessible from campus or home, you will find valuable information about the Library and our resources, including Library hours and locations, information about borrowing books, and links to our online catalog of materials in our Library, Voyager where you will also find links to full-text Electronic Books which can be read entirely on your computer. The Library website also includes links to Other Libraries and their online catalogs, Internet Links to many research areas, Full-Text Articles Online, Subject Guides to using our Library, including Writing Tips and tools for research papers. You will also find services for students including forms to request books and articles not found in your library, and information about Library Classes and Workshops which will help you achieve your goals and meet your needs here at Long Beach City College.
Suggestions for new programs and features involving use of computer systems in the Library are appreciated. Please contact Ramchandran Sethuraman (rsethuraman@lbcc.edu) with your ideas.
