Q. Can I renew my books over the phone?
Yes, by calling the Circulation Desk at (562) 938-4231. Patrons may renew library materials on or before the due date. If the material is overdue, patrons must present the material to the Circulation staff for inspection and pay outstanding fines before a renewal is possible.
Q. How do I renew my books online?
Go to the Library homepage at http://lib.lbcc.edu/. On the site navigation bar on the left side of the screen, click on Voyager, LBCC Library's online catalog. Then, select "Log in to use your saved preferences" and click first on "My Account" and then enter your college ID number and your last name. Click on "Log in." You should now be able to renew your book(s).
Q. Can I get books through LBCC from other libraries?
Yes, you can through our InterLibrary Loan (ILL) service. We can borrow books and journal articles for you, if we don't already have them in our library. Please check the online catalog before requesting materials through ILL.
Q. How do I make copies at Long Beach City College Library?
There are Copy Centers in the Liberal Arts Campus Library and the Pacific Coast Campus Library. The fee for photocopies is $.10 per page. First, you must purchase a copy card from a machine in the Research Center. Copy cards cost $1.00. When you first buy the card, you receive a $.50 credit, and you may add value to your card through the same machine.
Q. What is the difference between Reserves and Reference?
Reserves are materials that your professor has set aside for you in the Reserve Room at the Liberal Arts Campus Library and at the Circulation Desk at the Pacific Coast Campus Library. These items may be checked out only for a short period of time (e.g., 2 hours). This gives all the students in the class sufficient time to use the material without anyone keeping it for weeks. The Reference Collection does not circulate, which means that the items may not be checked out. Reference materials are usually books that people use to look up answers to questions or that have short articles that can be read in one sitting.
Q. Is there a wireless network available in the Library?
Yes, the LAC Library is a wireless hotzone. The wifi network is available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Get detailed information about accessing the wireless network.
